History of Rockbrook Elementary
Rockbrook Elementary School opened in the fall of 1960. Although the school building was new and modern, the street in front of the school was a country lane. The night before classes began, a storm made the street impassable. Children waded through mud to attend their first day. In just two years, the enrollment was over 600 children, and the building was expanded in 1963. In 1980, the school was completely remodeled.
Max McAuley was the first principal. He was followed by Evelyn Husband in 1967, Enid Humphrey in 1973, Karl Hughes in 1974, Al Inzerello in 1979, Jim Otto in 1989, Carolyn Law in 1993, Marla Fries in 1998, Doug Wragge in 2004, and our current principal, Garret Higginbotham in 2014.
